Licensed Mechanic / Truck and Coach

Day Group’s award-wining Fleet Maintenance division maintains our vast extensive of diesel trucks and float trailers as well as industrial construction equipment. You will be directly responsible for maintaining and repairing these complex machines and keeping them reliably on our roads.

The diversity of our fleet requires a broad knowledge of CAT, International and other major truck experience. Our requirements range from 2 years to less than 3 years with knowledge of this equipment. Our heavy duty mechanics must have a thorough understanding of large diesel engines as well as the hydraulic, transmission, electrical and mechanical systems on this equipment.

They diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy trucks of any make and keep them operating efficiently, safely and reliably year after year. Diesel mechanics also know how to operate grinders, drill presses, welders, cutting torches, and other metal fabrication tools typically found in workshops.

Your training should include:

Diesel Fuel Injection Systems, Diesel Engine Training, Computerized Truck and Bus Systems Management, Truck steering, suspension, brake and transmission systems.

You should have the following qualifications and certifications: A verifiable work history, certification as a master medium/heavy truck mechanic, a strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems and a technical degree or equivalent on the job experience.

Additionally, you are able to perform inspections which ensure that these vehicles perform safely and through these skills, the longevity of these vehicles is greatly extended.
